A Fool-Proof Method for Uploading to Multiple Galleries

Have you ever forgotten to upload a layout to all the galleries you have?  Isn’t it frustrating to go to a gallery and find that you didn’t upload all the same layouts to each gallery?  I have been in the spot SO many times.  When designers do a CT call, they often as for a link to your “most complete gallery.”  What gallery are you supposed to use?  What if all my layouts are spread out in all different galleries?  I struggle with these ideas all the time…mostly because my mother usually visits one of my galleries, and I like to make sure that it’s complete for her…and it’s always the one I forget.

I thought the best way to learn about uploading to multiple galleries is to go to an expert.  One again, CT Laura to the rescue.  Laura is on like 100 CTs, so I figured she knew a bit about how to get this done.  She had recently shared her methods for uploading with one of our friends on Twitter, so I knew she would have something to say.  Here’s Laura after the jump.

Hi guys, it’s Laura again.  I can’t believe I let Aaron talk me into another blog post, but hey…anything to help.  Today, I want to share with you how I go about uploading my layouts to multiple galleries.

As I am doing layouts, I keep my credits in a notepad document.  When I’m done with the layout, I upload to tinypic and paste the IMG code into my credits.  Once the product has been released, I add in the links and then everything is right there waiting for me.  I upload everything that I need to upload that day to one site at a time.  For example, this morning I had 6 layouts to post for new releases.  I pull up all the notepad documents that I have saved for each layout, and as I begin uploading I add the link to the layout under the IMG code for the layout.  I upload to scrapbook.com first because they don’t allow links, so I do this before I link anything up.  Then, I go to the designer’s store and upload there after I’ve added links.  Then, I pull up DST, LYM, MSA, and DSA.  I only upload at one store at a time, otherwise my head might explode.  Once I’m done at one site, and have added all my layout links to the notepad document, I close out the site I’m at, and move on.  Once a month I clear out all my posted LO’s and my notepad documents, zip them up and move them to my EHD.

    Yay! I love me some Laura posts! I actually use the same method; notepad, one site at a time. I also add my enabling links to this document, and create my posts for DSA/DST enabling here (easy peasy, since the links are all there already!) :D

    I do it completely back-asswards from that! I have a saved group with all my galleries and I open all in a tab group, and I upload the same layout across the board before I move to the next one. If the layout doesn’t belong in one of the galleries (closed gallery or whatever) I just skip over that tab. When I finish a CT layout I put a task on my Google Calendar with all the credits (I have them in notepad while I’m working on them and copy and paste them), and I start with the linked ones first lol. Seriously, back-asswards! Thanks for sharing your method Laura – you rock! :)

    I use a notepad as well. I also have an add on in firefox that allows me to get the BB code from various links with a right mouse click, so it is easier to grab the kit links. I just wish it was easier to check track of the links for a kit for a designer with multiple stores.

    That’s a great idea too! I totally agree too…Laura posts are pretty much the bomb…I have some other guests coming soon, so it should be a real hootenanny.

    also a good idea…I have a similar add on for Chrome…I don’t use it as often as I should though.

    I use the “File Info” option in PSE. LOVE IT! Saves all the credits with the unmerged layout and so all I have to do is open that up and C&P to the credits box in one gallery. Then I do my links. Then I c&p all that into every other gallery I load to. :)
