The Benefits of Subscription Kits

A growing trend in the digi scrap world lately is the idea of subscription kits.  Subscription kits can work one of two ways: either the customer can pay a set price, and then receive parts of the kits over a series of weeks or the customer can buy a subscription to the product, and that amount is taken from their account monthly.  Both have benefits that justify the purchase for the customer.

Over at Funky Playground, I am part of The Funky Club, Volume 1.  The Funky Club, Volume 1 is a subscription kit that four designers participate in.  For $10, you can purchase a subscription, and you will receive 16 mini kits.

Each mini kit is also sold separately, available for purchase to the general public for around $3.00.  This week, I released the Week 8 Mini.  Check it out….

The Daily Digi is also now offering subscriptions to it’s wildly popular Digi Files.  There are a few different ways to purchase them, but the basic idea is that you sign up to pay one price every  month, and you never miss a Digi Files again.  It’s a great set up, and they are offering it along with their Digi Playbook…you can check it out.

They are both something to check out!

Exciting New Paperclipping Digi Show with Katie Pertiet and Me!

Today’s episode of the Paperclipping Digi Show is especially exciting.  Designer and owner of Designer Digitals, Katie Pertiet was a guest.  I have long admired Katie’s products, as well as the professional and creative atmosphere of Designer Digitals.  As you can imagine, I was excited seeing as I was a guest on PDS today as well!  The topic was making sure to set aside time for scrapbooking, despite a busy schedule.

You can check out the latest episode at Paperclipping.   I can’t wait for all of you to hear it!

Paperclipping Digi Show: Why You Need to Listen to This, Too

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the wonder that is the Paperclipping Roundtable.  Coincidentally, in that week’s episode, they had announced that Steph from The Daily Digi would be heading up a new podcast, Paperclipping Digi Show.  I recently sat down and got caught up on the two episodes that have been released already, and I can tell you two episodes in, I am hooked.

The show is almost identical in set up to Paperclipping Roundtable.  A panel of guests discuss current topics in digital scrapbooking, and share their ideas and inspirations.  You can get the show two different ways.  You can go to the Paperclipping website and click on digi and it will give you the post with the latest episode.  You can also subscribe to the podcast in iTunes, which is what I did.  This way, I am sure to not miss an episode, as they download for me automatically.  I can also take it with me and listen to it anywhere.

The shows all have interesting topics, but what I find even more interesting is the amount of conversation the episodes generate from the public.  There are a couple options that allow the listeners to respond to the episode or discuss the topics in the episode.  On the Paperclipping website, you can leave comments directly on the episode’s post.  In fact, if you have ideas for upcoming shows, you can leave the ideas there too!  Also, if you want discuss the episode on Twitter, you can use #pds along with the episode number (so for the first episode it would be #pds1).  By doing this, you can search for the hashtag and see everything everyone has to say about the episode.

When I blogged about Paperclipping Roundtable, I gave high praises to the podcast, noting how it is great to be able to hear people TALK about scrapbooking.  I can say that Paperclipping Digi Show is much the same.  If you aren’t checking it out, you definitely should be.  Plus, make sure to go over to the site and leave your comments and ideas for show topics and guests!

You can check it out:

  • At the Paperclipping site
  • You can subscribe in iTunes, and if you need to see how to do that, check the video linked on the site

Are you listening to PDS?  What are your thoughts?  Who do you want to “see” on it?  What do you want them to cover?  I would love to hear your ideas!

Paperclipping Roundtable: What is it, and why should I care?

A few weeks back, I was introduced to Paperclipping Roundtable.  Paperclipping Roundtable is a podcast that is part of the Paperclipping website.  Paperclipping has a wealth of video tutorials on scrapbooking, both free and for members.  Paperclipping Live! is a live show that streams over the internet where the host can interact with the audience.  Both of these mediums are hosted by Noell Hyman, the mastermind behind the Paperclipping website.  The website also has a newsletter and a community which is clearly active.  For now, though, let’s get back to PRT (Paperclipping Round Table).

Like I said earlier, Paperclipping Roundtable is a podcast that you can listen to on the site, or subscribe to in iTunes.  Now, I’ll admit, the first time I went to listen to PRT, I was skeptical because Paperclipping seemed to be a paper scrapbooking driven site.  What I quickly learned is that PRT is not as much about “how to paper scrapbook” but more a discussion about the ideas behind scrapbooking, in any format.  PRT is co-hosted by Noell Hyman and Nancy Nally, and then features a variety of guests who talk with them about the topic of that episode.  Past guests have included Ali Edwards, Jessica Sprague, and Steph from The Daily Digi.

What I have really liked about PRT is the fact that it usually doesn’t focus on the “logistical” side of scrapbooking.  I enjoy listening to people’s thoughts about the reasons behind scrapbooking, more of the ideas behind scrapbooking.  I also enjoy the discussion about what the industry is facing, and how the industry is growing.  All of this, on top of the fact that the members of the roundtable are always entertaining, make PRT an enjoyable listen.

So why should you listen?  Well besides the fact that it’s fun and entertaining, PRT gives us digi folk something that often lacks in our relationships.  With PRT, you are able to listen to people actually discuss topics about scrapbooking.  We can respond to each other in forums, and comment on blog posts, but being able to discuss something with each other is beyond our means.  Not to mention, the people who are on the show are some of the foremost people in the industry!  PRT is a great opportunity to listen to smart people have smart discussions about the scrapbooking industry.  I’ve even been mentioned on it!  Well, a tweet I did was mentioned….but still, I knew it was me!

You can check out PRT:

On iTunes

Editing to add:  There is a CRAZY great announcement in PRT #21….you HAVE to hear it.
